I starting learning to play the bagpipes in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada in the late 1980’s.  I studied under the guidance of  Pipe Major Alex Graham of The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada.

After emigrating to Wisconsin in 1992, I, along with my son Robert  and daughter Lorraine  played and competed with The Billy Mitchell Scottish and studied under the direction of Pipe Major Garry Bottoni.

I; along with my son Robert played and competed with the La Crosse District Pipe Band, where I was under the watchful eye of   P/M Doug Weidenbach

I am a charter member of the Highland Bagpipe Association of the University of Wisconsin Madison.  The band was under the direction of  Ewan Macpherson and Richard Worthington.  After all the students graduated the band became The Badger Pipes and Drums.  Following Ewan’s and Richard’s graduations I was elected Pipe Major of the band and took the band to it first ever competition circle.  This band under went a name change to the current Madison Pipes and Drums,

I moved on to become instructor and Pipe Major of The Bravest and Finest Memorial Pipe Band.  This group was composed of Police Officers and Fire Fighters of the Madison Area as well as members of the general public.
